The Cruelty of My Boyfriend

So Geoff has a ring.

He's keeping it locked up in his filing cabinet, with one key locked in there with it, and the other key is on his key ring. And my passport is locked in the cabinet with the ring.

He keeps telling me all about it.

It's the one that we picked out at Kay's in March, and when he got to the store, they searched for an hour to find it and then realized that it hadn't sold, so the main office had requested that it be sent back. The store still had it, but that one had to be sent back and another one ordered.

And then Geoff bought a diamond upgrade from another store, and he's been telling me all about that...what size it is, how much it cost, what Tom (his boss) thinks of it, what the goldsmith here in Fayetteville who put it in a new setting and adjusted the ring size thought of it, how sparkly it is, how the setting makes it look bigger than it actually is, and how fun the goldsmith's shop dog is.

And then he tells me that I can't see it, and gives no hint as to when I might, but he does say that he likes this ability to hold a "sparkly" over my head and see how long I do what he wants because of it.

As for the passport, he's taking me on a surprise trip for a week after Katie's wedding...purpose unknown, but aside from giving me a relaxing break from law school, I suspect that he's going to propose then. He refuses to confirm or deny this suspicion.

My thought is it's a Caribbean cruise, from all of the hints he's dropped, but once again, he won't tell me. He did tell Jannae though, and said he has no problem with me finding out where we're going from her. I'm not sure she'll believe me on that, but I'll try in a couple of weeks.
