House

Geoff and I have a house! I'm pretty excited. We got a great deal on it! Geoff will be moving in on November 1st, and I'm waiting until closer to the wedding to move my stuff in. I am going to claim one of the bedrooms as my office though, and put one of my desks, a bookshelf, and a comfy chair in there (the room with the 2 corner windows above the garage). Since Geoff and both the kitties will be there, I'll be spending time over there, so I might as well make a nice place for me to study. It will also be an escape from when the neighbors here are playing loud music while I'm trying to study. I wish I could go ahead and move my couch into that gorgeous living room, but I need to keep it here, sadly. Geoff's futon will just have to do for a while. It also doesn't come with a washer and dryer, so he will be using the ones in my apartment until we can afford to get some cheap ones (sometime mid-spring, I think).
The house is a duplex just off of Mission and Crossover, and we're renting it from two attorneys who live in Benton. They live in the other side when they come up here for games and to visit their parents, so we shouldn't have any neighbor problems. The funny thing is, Geoff's parents' attorney friend from their Sunday School class is great friends with the attorney we're renting from. It's funny how small the world can be sometimes!
We showed Geoff's parents the outside of the house yesterday (no key yet) and they both think it's a great deal and a cute house. While we were there, I noticed the sign from the realtor said the house was either for lease or for sale. We'll know in about a year whether or not I'll have a job up here, so maybe if we like it the owners will be amenable to selling at some point, or doing a rent-to-own kind of deal.
