Job!

I have a job!! It's only a part-time student clerkship at a new law firm in Springdale, not a "real" job for after graduation, but I'm beyond excited about it! The firm does solely immigration law, so it's the area I love.  My duties as a student clerk will mostly be the background busy work needed to keep a law firm running, rather than actually working the cases as I did in the clinic, but I don't mind. In fact, I tend to like busy work. It's repetitive and soothing, plus it will help me learn about all the details required for working in a law firm.

The firm is still in the process of moving into the new office (the main office and other satellite office are both in another state), so it's only going to be part-part-time until after finals in December.  I plan on arranging my class schedule next spring so I can have 2 or 3 full days to work.  Luckily, I only need 6 hours to graduate, so I should be able to cover that with 2 classes on Wednesday/Fridays.

There is still an empty office for one more attorney to be hired at the firm...they may or may not hire one in the next few months, and if they don't, that means I will have an advantage. So while the firm may need to hire another attorney due to the caseload, it would be absolutely wonderful if that spot could be waiting for me after I take the bar next summer.  I'll be hoping and praying that it is.

My first day of work is this Wednesday.  While I won't be able to talk about details, I'll definitely write about how it went.

Edit: My skin is still looking pretty good from using my Clarisonic...I lost my point and shoot camera a couple of weeks back and I was too lazy to charge my DSLR, so I couldn't take any pictures.  Luckily, Geoff found my camera in the chair cushion this past weekend...those darn cats!

  1. Congrats on the job! And good luck tomorrow on your first day! I'll pray that the job stays open for you (or that a better one will come along).
