Registry/Decorating Woes

It's really hard to find a good comforter. I guess that's why my mom has only had 2 over the past 20 years.
I want to find one that is pretty, comfortable, and simple. The problem is that Geoff vetoes the ones I think are pretty because they're too feminine, so I'm having to resort to darker colors than I would usually like.

We added one comforter set to the Bed Bath & Beyond registry yesterday but decided to take it off once we got home. It was dark and grey and silk and not at all comfortable. It was the only one we could find that was both pretty and not too feminine, but I would never want to sleep on it.

I'm trying to keep the colors light and airy. I don't want to feel closed up in a room.

I like this comforter color and texture.  Something similar to this is my goal.

This is all I've been able to find so far:
This picture is from the BB&B website. Other stores online have the same set, but the color is shown as much lighter. In fact, BB&B is the only one that has it this dark. So I'm not sure what to do.

There's also this one, which could grow on me. It feels a little dark, but I bet I could lighten up the room with the right curtains and such. Actually, I like this one more the more I compare it to the picture above. Just not sure how it compares to the lighter version.

No matter what we go with, BB&B does have a nice return policy, so if I get one and absolutely hate it, I can always try the other with no questions asked.

Edit:
I decided to add the lighter photo in here.

I think I could be happy with this. I don't like the border on the duvet cover, but the colors are pretty.  Geoff looked at it and said "ugh."
