Winter is finally on its way here in Denver! We went from t-shirt to coat and boot weather in the span of about an hour. I know that at some point I'll regret it and wish for warm, dry days, but right now I'm looking forward to the cold and snow. I think it's because, as a Southerner, cold and snow are such novelties to me, even though this will be my fourth winter here in Colorado. Growing up in Arkansas, my idea of winter weather was rain, the occasional snow flurry (but never near Christmas), and periodic devastating ice storms. Despite the miniscule chance of snow and the fact that there are indeed snow plows here, the husband and I decided to get all of our errands done over the weekend so we can stay home and enjoy the cold weather from the warmth of our townhouse.
One thing I will be doing more of now that it's finally winter(ish) is cross-stitching. A couple of weeks ago I abandoned my top-secret project that I've been working on for several months in order to try to finish as many Christmas ornaments as possible. Many years ago, I purchased a Bucilla kit with ornaments in the shape of Christmas stockings. (It's this one, in case you're curious). Back then, I finished a total of 2 ornaments, and I thought it was high time to finish the kit. So we'll see how many I get done this year. Right now my current rate is one a week. I would love to have 5 or 6 finished as a realistic goal. I've been taking a couple of in progress photos, so I'll be sure to share them once they're done!
